MEDICAL SECRETARY--Five Quarters


The purpose of this program is to prepare the student for entry-level employment in a medical office as a Medical Secretary.  You will receive training in all of the skills expected of a Medical Secretary including medical terminology, keyboarding, information processing, medical office procedures, machine transcription, and microcomputer applications.

Upon completion of this program, you will be prepared for an entry-level medical secretarial position in such areas as private medical practices, medical clinics, hospitals, industrial health care departments, insurance offices, and government agencies.   

Graduates of this program may find employment as Medical Secretaries, Unit Support Representatives, Admitting Clerks, Administrative Assistants, Secretaries, Medical Transcriptionists, Patient Relations Representatives, Front Office Managers, Health Unit Coordinators, Medical Office Specialists, and Patient Coordinators.
